Dear Kamal,

I care a lot about people. I guess that’s part of the reason that I became a nurse. That’s also why I care about my three children and why I have worked so hard since now that I am no longer married to see that they have a decent home to live in, a good education and good friends to be part of their lives. My husband and I were divorced several years ago and with all of the turmoil his credit and mine were trashed. We owned a home then but of course lost it because of the divorce.

It’s hard enough to house, feed and clothe my kids, working full time, take the time to deal with old stuff and try to save money for a down payment on a home, investing, or much else, even if I knew how! Investing, I mean. So, I did the best that I could, working to earn a living and rented places where the kids and I could live and get stable.

Renting is just not the same as owning a home. I couldn’t do all the math to show you why but I just know it is better for me and the kids to own our home. Beyond the money aspects I just get a better feeling of security knowing that I have some control over my living environment. When you rent it’s hard to get over the feeling that you are really living in someone else’s home and they can tell you to leave almost any time.

I guess that’s why I was drawn to respond to your ad when I saw it on the internet. I thought it was great idea to help with my credit by leasing a home of my choice with an option to purchase. So I entered my name and phone number into the little boxes on your website and began what was for me a completely new and exciting journey. I really think it’s wonderful that you have created such a system.

When we first met I didn’t know quite what to expect but I got a feeling that you were really willing and able to help me to own a home. That experience alone was a radical turn in the road of my life up to that point. I appreciated that you took the time to explain the details, the costs and what my obligations would be. I could see that this program was not free but I could sense that maybe this was my best shot at getting into a home for me and the children and that it could be affordable. That was very valuable to me.

It took quite a number of weeks looking with your realtor to find the right place and the right price but I am very happy with the result.  I would not move my children out of their neighborhood with all of their friends and familiar places. Our home is within walking distance to where my son plays baseball with his team so he is really excited. All of the children can walk too school and be close to their friends and their friends’ moms so I can feel good about working or whatever I need to do.

The realtor was great and so was everyone else I worked with including the credit counselor, the mortgage person, the investor and of course you. I know this is all serious business for all of us but I got the sense that your team of professionals are caring human beings.

Kamal, thanks so much. I am committed to work with the credit improvement plan and get qualified to buy as soon as possible even though it means I may need to take some overtime shifts to make enough for the payments. I can do that. I know it won’t be forever either. I am good at my profession. Hospitals and physicians need good nurses and there will be opportunities for me to advance in pay and responsibility. The home will grow in value over time and it will get easier to make the payments. With your help the future looks very bright.

Sincerely,

Tina Lynch
