"...we really had little to lose and everything to gain." Ray and Debbie Kerschner
Dear Kamal, Debbie and I are so overwhelmed at this point about your lease to own program. After living for 15 years as renters it is just hard to believe that we are on this track to finally become homeowners. You know about our large family. Two 11 year olds and three younger children, all foster kids. My job with Boeing has been good to us supplying just about everything we needed to put a roof over our heads and let Debbie stay at home to raise the children. Yeah, the job has been good enough to do that as renters but somehow we were never able to save enough for a down payment to buy a home. Five children growing up always require gobs of money, things like shoes, food, clothes, school supplies, field trips, etc. We always felt like putting their needs first because no one else would do that for them and they deserve it. Debbie and the kids deserve to live in their own home also. I guess lots of families have expenses like ours so it wasn’t just that that caused us to have credit problems but we really didn’t know much about managing our credit. I think as much as anything else that kind of intimidated us away from even trying to buy. It just felt uncomfortable talking to lenders about it. They always seemed not interested in our situation. Certainly, they didn’t have a lot of answers for us. Well, the last home we were living in before we met you was owned by a nice guy that lived just a couple of blocks away. He was a pretty good landlord, straightforward type. He had a tragedy happen that made it necessary for him to ask for the house back so he could house a caregiver. We understood, but once again it left us odd people out; that someone else really made the decisions about where we lived, not us. And when we had to leave after paying rent for all those years we had nothing to show for it. So, I was cruising around on the internet looking for options and found your website. It helped to see all of the other stories about other people like us that you were able to help. When we left our name and asked for more information we were very pleased when we found out really how simple your program was. We read all of the materials, thought it over and decided that we really had little to lose and everything to gain. I mean, we really couldn’t see any other way to get into home that we could buy. The best alternatives we could see for ourselves would be to rent again and keep watching housing prices run faster away from us. And that wouldn’t address the credit fixing problem. It was a great experience to work with you right from the very beginning. You did everything you said you would and stuck with it for what eventually took several months but we finally arrived. We love the house your realtor was able to find. The rent is what you said it would be in the beginning and so are the option terms. Debbie and I are motivated beyond belief to do what we need to do to get title to the home in our name. I’ll work all the overtime I can get and we have been working with your credit counseling team to get right to work on that problem. It’s a beautiful thing to have what you called our blueprint to success to become a homeowner. I never realized how important it was to just have a plan to get where you want to be and knowledgeable help to get us through what we don’t know. Kamal, Debbie and I are sincerely grateful for your help. Our whole family thanks you. We are better off for having met you. Sincerely, Ray and Debbie Kerschner |
